During Salone Orientamenti 2017 fair, from tuesday the 14th to friday the 17th of november, the first REPAIR CAFE - foreseen among the activities on strategic metals of FORCE project - was carried out. FORCE is a European Horizon 2020 project dedicated to Circular Economy. It involves 4 European cities - Copenhagen (leader), Genoa, Lisbon and Hamburg - and as many waste streams.
Genoa deals with wood and wood waste and three pilot activities referring to other cities' waste streams: plastic, strategic metals (WEEE) and food scraps.
The REPAIR CAFE ' was implemented within the Hamburg main theme of strategic metals/WEEE.
In the Don Bosco Institute exhibit area, a corner was dedicated to the activities of the first REPAIR CAFE'. Students and teachers of the Institute selected different types of small household appliances and showed to the visitors how to avoid throwing them away thanks to small repairs activities: replacing the pattern of a cellphone, changing a socket, etc.
Visitors of FORCE Repair Café performed by Don Bosco were about 1.200
Students and visitors learnt how to do small reparation interventions on: hairdryers, plugs, table lamps, fans, scales, desk calculators, pc power supply, mini stereo and portable tv.
Salone Orientamenti 2017 was visited by over 70.000 visitors, mostly students, parents and teachers.
